Product Care
How to take care of my Macrame?
By gently brushing your macrame fringes on a regular basis, you can keep them looking neat and tidy while also prolonging the life of your macramé piece.
By following these simple care tips, you can help preserve the beauty and integrity of your macrame pieces for years to come and remember! Don’t wash and don’t tumble dry your macrame pieces.
Taking care of your Macrame pieces involves a few simple steps to ensure they remain clean and in good condition:
Dust Regularly
Dust can accumulate on macrame over time, especially if it’s hanging in a static spot. Use a soft brush or a lint roller to gently remove dust and debris.
Avoid Moisture
Macrame pieces can be damaged by excessive moisture. Keep them away from damp areas and avoid hanging them in places where they might be exposed to humidity, like bathrooms.
Spot Cleaning
If your macrame piece gets dirty or stained, spot clean it with a mild detergent diluted in water. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently dab at the stain, being careful not to rub too hard or pull on the fibers.
Avoid Direct Sunlight
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause colours to fade and fibers to weaken. If possible, hang your macrame piece away from direct sunlight or rotate it regularly to prevent uneven fading.
Storage
When not in use, store your macrame pieces in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight. You can gently fold or roll them up to save space, but avoid creasing or crushing the fibers.
Trim Loose Ends
Over time, you may notice loose threads or frayed ends on your macrame. Use sharp scissors to carefully trim them, being careful not to cut any of the surrounding knots or fibers.
If your macrame piece has fringes, you can gentle brush them to keep them neat and tidy, as well as prevent tangling and matting. Here’s how you can do it:
Use a Comb or Brush
Choose a comb or brush with soft bristles to avoid damaging the delicate fibers of the macramé. A wide-tooth comb or a brush with flexible bristles works well for this purpose.
Start from the Bottom
Begin by holding the macramé piece upright and starting at the bottom of the fringes. Gently comb or brush through the fringes in a downward motion, working your way up towards the top.
Be Gentle
Avoid pulling or tugging too hard on the fringes, as this can cause them to break or become damaged. Use light, gentle strokes to remove any tangles or knots.
Work in Sections
If the fringes are long or particularly tangled, you may find it helpful to work in small sections at a time. This can make it easier to detangle and smooth out the fringes without causing damage.
Repeat as Needed
Depending on the level of tangles or frizziness, you may need to repeat the brushing process several times until the fringes are smooth and neat.
Trim Any Loose Ends
After brushing, you may notice some loose or stray fibers sticking out from the fringes. Use sharp scissors to carefully trim these away, being careful not to cut into the knots or main structure of the macramé.
